caption from the original 'IRELANTIS' book, 1999:
"This was part of a commission on Temple Bar for the State Collection, and I got to use real photographs rather than printed reproductions. Through the little binocular microscope that I use, they're still sharp and even more fun to work with. Magnified, the scalpel is a shovel and the slicing of postcards like cutting turf."
The original collage from Sean Hillen's IRELANTIS series was made in 1997 and is 15 x 16.5 cm.
