caption from the original 'IRELANTIS' book, 1999:
"Knowth, Dowth and Newgrange make up that evocative and mysterious complex of megalithic monuments in the Boyne Valley. The turf collecting image is one of Hinde's most famous and iconic and I had seen it brilliantly pastiched by John Kindness' The Dealers, where the baskets were piled with unidentified suspicious packages and the donkey garlanded with big joints.
It also invokes one of my favourite lines from Heaney, "...if I could come upon meteorite!"
The original collage from Sean Hillen's IRELANTIS series was made in 1996 and is 16 x 24 cm.
